"Nothing is safe anymore:" Police say three homes, one vehicle targeted by burglars in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Mount Pleasant police are investigating three burglaries that occurred in the same neighborhood on Friday morning, December 11th. The suspects are accused of stealing from homes while family members were inside, sleeping. Police are hopeful surveillance video can help them solve the crimes.

That surveillance video was recorded three months ago.

Police believe the same suspects who ripped off homes in Mount Pleasant on Friday morning stole from a couple of businesses back in September.

Rod Gordon says whoever stole from his home probably walked in the back door and out the front. He says the burglars stole his son's Xbox and rifled through a purse.

"For somebody to walk through your house when you have a dog and then you're there and you're sleeping -- I guess it is kind of spooky," Gordon said.

Neil Williams heard about the theft on Saturday -- and he said he's just grateful his family wasn't impacted.

"With three boys, you never know what's going to be unlocked, so we've just got to be a little more diligent about keeping our doors locked and keeping an eye out," Williams said.

Police say three homes and one vehicle were hit in Mount Pleasant before sunrise on Friday: One home on Royal Oaks Road, two homes on Taylor Avenue and a parked vehicle on Braun Road.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspects from those two robberies in September -- hoping the public can help to identify them.

This as neighbors in Mount Pleasant are offering some advice.

"With cars, put them in the garage and make sure they are locked. If you have a garage door opener that's in the vehicle and you can't put it in the garage, bring that garage door opener in," Williams said.

Gordon says items can be replaced, but it's much harder to get back the trust he and his family have lost.

"It makes you feel like nothing is safe anymore," Gordon said.
