Get home safe: Miller Lite Free Rides back for New Year's Eve

MILWAUKEE -- The Original Light Beer is teaming up with the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) to bring Miller Lite Free Rides® back home to Milwaukee for New Year’s Eve.

In partnership with Beer Capitol Distributing, Miller Lite® will provide Free Rides on all MCTS bus routes Thursday, December 31, beginning at 8 p.m. until end of regular service, with extended service on 13 MCTS bus routes until 4 a.m.

“Milwaukee is home to our first Free Rides program, and it is a tradition we are proud to continue with MCTS,” said Diane Wagner, Responsibility Commerce Manager at MillerCoors. “Working together with MCTS and Beer Capitol Distributing, we will ensure people will have a great time this New Year’s Eve and get home safely.”

Since 1987, Miller Lite has provided more than 1 million people in the Milwaukee community with safe transportation alternatives on holidays and during local events. The program has earned the full support of state and local law enforcement, including the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation (MCDOT). Over the years, the Free Rides program has provided more than 5 million people nationwide with a safe ride home and is part of MillerCoors overall commitment to preventing drunk driving.

“We’ve partnered with Miller Lite to make sure our community celebrates the holiday safely for nearly 30 years,” said Chris Abele, Milwaukee County Executive. “We encourage everyone who is going out on New Year’s Eve to leave their keys at home and let MCTS be their designated driver.”

“Beer Capitol Distributing has been a part of the Milwaukee community for more than 80 years, and we’re proud to continue to support Miller Lite and MCTS to provide this important service to our consumers,” said Aldo Madrigrano, Chief Executive Officer at Beer Capitol Distributing.

This New Year’s Eve, Free Rides will also be offered in Madison and Green Bay, Wisconsin; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Duluth, and the Twin Cities, Minnesota; Nashville, Tennessee; and Phoenix.
