Germantown police to increase presence at Kennedy Middle School after "vague message" found

GERMANTOWN -- There will be an increased police presence at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown Wednesday, December 16th after a "vague message" was found in the school.

On Tuesday evening, December 15th the Germantown School District and the Germantown Police Department received notification that a Kennedy Middle School student observed a "very vague message" in the school. Officials say the message is so vague, it cannot be deemed a threat.

However, as a precaution, officials say there will be an increased police presence at the middle school Wednesday morning to ensure everyone is safe.

The Germantown Police Department has opened an investigation to determine the origin and meaning of the message. At this time, they are not releasing the exact wording of the message.

In a letter sent to parents of students, Kennedy Middle School officials said "There is no threat or reason to believe anyone is in any danger, but we believe that, where we can, keeping our community informed is the best practice and policy and no harm can come from putting in place extra precautions."
