"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" the talk of the country as film finally premieres in theaters



MEQUON -- "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was the talk of the country on Thursday, December 17th. The film has finally opened in theaters.

The first showings happened around 7:00 p.m.

At the Marcus North Shore Cinema, the film is being shown continuously -- with one showing starting about every 20 minutes or so until around 4:15 a.m.

This is no ordinary movie opening.

The sights and sounds of Star Wars fans can only be compared to the sights and sounds in the actual movie.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the long-awaited new Star Wars film that forces the story line forward, instead of looking backwards as the prequels did.

The Marcus North Shore Cinema in Mequon was a sea of lightsabers and Darth Vaders Thursday.

"The series has been going on for so long and over the years it's picked up so many fans," Bennett Hermanoff said.

At 8:00 a.m. Thursday, fans started lining up at some local theaters.

The Marcus Majestic Cinema in Brookfield began showing the Star Wars series from the beginning.

"It was $60 for all seven movies back-to-back,"

At the Avalon Theater in Milwaukee, it was Star Wars under the stars. 200 people got to watch the movie for free.

In Mequon, the wise Star Wars fans bought their tickets early. Many showings were sold out.

The Marcus North Shore Cinema opens again for more showings at 8:00 a.m. Friday.
