Warning in Wauwatosa: Officials report multiple coyote sightings on Christmas Day

WAUWATOSA -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office says coyotes in Wauwatosa are getting bold. Several people reported coyotes near Discovery Parkway, the Ronald McDonald House, and Church Street off Menomonee River Parkway on Friday, December 25th.

According to officials, some coyotes were near a man and his dog.

When authorities arrived, they found two coyotes and tried to scare them off -- but not even squad car sirens worked.

FOX6 News spoke with one woman walking her dog on Church Street, while visiting family this Christmas. She says she was unaware about the sighting, but now she plans to stay in well-lit areas.

"I was ready to walk into the dark, not knowing that piece of information, because we've been celebrating Christmas all day who would have known? So thank you for that. I would have been afraid because you have no idea, we have no idea, what a coyote looks like, does," said Mary Voel, out walking dog.

The sheriff's office says anyone with small dogs should not leave them unattended outside.
