Kids and their families celebrate New Year's Eve early (at noon) at the Betty Brinn Children's Museum

MILWAUKEE -- New Year's Eve celebrations started early for some families in Milwaukee on Thursday, December 31st.

New Year's Eve was celebrated at noon Thursday at the Betty Brinn Children's Museum.

Kids were able to create their own party hats and noise makers, and take part in a dance party -- with a ball drop at noon.

Baby New Year and Father Time were on hand for the party.

It was a way for families with young children to celebrate the new year without staying up late.

"They get to explore. They get to experiment. They get to try things and they really get to celebrate the holiday because typically by midnight, they are fast asleep or if they're not they should be," Amy Kazilsky with Betty Brinn Children's Museum said.

About 1,000 people showed up for the Betty Brinn New Year's Eve event.

It was free with regular admission price.

The museum will be open on New Year's Day from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
