Denied: Licensing committee votes unanimously to deny license to "10 Exotic"

MILWAUKEE -- A new effort to get a downtown Milwaukee strip club was voted down on Tuesday, January 5th.

The Milwaukee Common Council's Licenses Committee voted unanimously on Tuesday afternoon to deny a license to "10 Exotic."

The location in question is on Old World Third Street near Wells. Silk Exotic officials tried to open there -- and were denied a license. This time, it was Boro Buzdum filing the application.

"Just cause I have relatives in the business. My sister had happened to apply. I don’t think I should be thrown in that same category," said Buzdum.

Buzdum's application came after his sister lost her license for a restaurant at the same location because she slipped in exotic dancing.

"I believe there was a breach of trust," said Milwaukee Police Captain Eric Moore.

Moore said Buzdum's brother has a strategy of threatening to sue to get what he wants -- which he thinks Buzdum shares.

"If you don't get your license today, are you going to sue?" asked one of the committee members.

"I'll have to consult with an attorney," said Buzdum. "I feel that I have the right to do that there. I feel that there’s no issue with that. And if that's the step I have to take, unfortunately that's the step I have to take."

Of note, Buzdum brought no one on Tuesday to speak in support of the strip club. There were several business and community leaders along with residents who spoke in opposition.
