Kenosha police investigating attempted child abduction

KENOSHA -- The Kenosha Police Department is investigating  a report of an attempted child abduction that occurred Monday, January 4th.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. near 73rd Street and 97th Avenue.

According to police, a student from Nash Elementary School was walking home when they were approached by a short, slim Hispanic male in his 40s wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect, who spoke with an accent, called out to the student and then grabbed them by the arm.

Police say the child was able to pull away and run. The suspect attempted to follow, but was unsuccessful.

The Kenosha Police Department has increased police presence in the Nash neighborhood while students are walking to and from school.

Authorities suggest that Nash Elementary School students walk to and from school in groups or with an adult.
