Watch: Military mom surprises daughter during her 'American Idol' audition

An American Idol audition brought everyone to tears Thursday night, when a mother serving in the military overseas, surprised her daughter auditioning on the show.

According to WXIN, Tristan McIntosh, 15, of Nashville, said doing the audition without her mother by her side was weird. McIntosh said her mother is the reason she's a musician and her goal was to make her mother proud.

After impressing the judges singing "Why Baby Why" by Mickey Guyton, American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr. read her an email -- he said it was from "one of her family members."

The email said:

“You’ve always called me your big hero, but today you are my big hero because you are doing something that you’ve dreamt about since you were 10-years-old. Do your best today, and most importantly, have fun.”

McIntosh started to cry after hearing the email, but what happened next brought even the judges to tears!
