Tiny homes built by Oak Creek company a feature of Wisconsin RV Super Show: "Wherever you're at, you're home"

MILWAUKEE -- The Wisconsin RV Super Show, taking place this weekend, January 8th through the 10th at the Wisconsin Center featured a new trend in living -- tiny homes.

In the United States, the average size of new single family homes grew from 1,780 square feet in 1978 to 2,479 square feet in 2007, and to 2,662 square feet in 2013, despite a decrease in the size of the average family.

The small house movement is a return to houses of less than 1,000 square feet.

Wisconsin's largest RV show welcomed more than 10,000 people.

"We weren`t expecting the response we had (Saturday). It was phenomenal," Rob Lynch, owner of the Wisconsin RV Super Show said.

2016 was the inaugural year for this show in Wisconsin.

"It`s such a hearty state. You guys love the outdoors. Some of the greatest outdoor areas in our country is in Wisconsin," Lynch said.

Almost 300 vehicles from travel trailers to motor homes were featured in the show -- offering something for everyone.

Catching a lot of attention this weekend was a tiny house on display.

"This unit is only 400 square feet," Eric Kurzynski with Utopian Villas said.

Utopian Villas is a premier tiny house company that builds year-round living environments.

"Whether it`s -10 or 110, you`re going to stay just as comfortable in our tiny house as you would in your full size home," Kurzynski said.

What sets these tiny homes apart from a park model RV are the full size amenities.

"We took all the construction and mechanical issues and made it an easy transition to go from regular living to tiny house living," Kurzynski said.
