Packers in the playoffs: Green Bay gets the WIN vs. the Washington Redskins on the road 35-18



MARYLAND -- The Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins meet on the gridiron at FedEx Field on Sunday, January 10th.

This is the last game of the Wild Card round in the NFL playoffs -- a game you'll see only on FOX6.

Play got underway at FedEx Field in Maryland at 3:40 p.m.

The Packers won the coin toss and opted to take the ball as this game began.

For the Packers, it's win or go home this week.

During their first offensive drive this game, the Packers got just one first down.

The Redskins took over the ball at their own 33 yard line following the punt.

The Packers defense started with a three-and-out. A penalty on the punt return backed the Packers up to their own eight yard line as they began their next possession.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was sacked in the end zone for a safety for the Redskins -- getting Washington on the board early in the first half of this game.

Following that safety, there was 10:27 left to play in the first half.

The Redskins scored a touchdown with a 15-yard pass from Redskins QB Kirk Cousins to wide receiver DeSean Jackson who then ran the ball into the end zone.

The play was reviewed, and it was determined that Jackson was out of bounds at the one-half yard line. It was ruled that this was NOT a touchdown -- and it was then first and goal for the Redskins.

The Green Bay Packers defense was able to stop the Redskins at the goal line -- forcing Washington to try for a field goal.

Redskins kicker Dustin Hopkins was good on a 25-yard field goal. The score was then Redskins 5, Packers 0 with 4:51 left to play in the first quarter.

The Redskins' offensive drive included 10 plays for 48 yards in 5:36.

The Packers offense went three-and-out during their next possession. The Redskins would take over on their own 32 yard line -- with under four minutes to play in the first quarter.

More pressure from the Packers defense led to a three-and-out for the D -- and the Redskins were again forced to punt. The punt went 60 yards and after a roll, ended up at the Green Bay 13 yard line with under three minutes to play in the first quarter.

Then came another three-and-out for the Packers offense.

A Redskins penalty on the punt return put the ball on the Redskins 36 yard line.

The Redskins led the Packers 5-0 as the first quarter came to an end at FedEx Field.

The next Redskins touchdown came early in the second quarter with a 24-yard pass from QB Kirk Cousins TE Jordan Reed.

The extra point was unsuccessful -- bouncing off the right upright.

The score was then Redskins 11, Packers 0 with 13:02 left in the second quarter.

A Packers touchdown and the first green and gold score this game came with a 12-yard pass from QB Aaron Rodgers to WR Randall Cobb. A 34-yard pass from Rodgers to Packers WR James Jones (and his hoodie) helped set up this TD.

Mason Crosby's extra point was good -- bringing the score to Packers 7, Redskins 11 with 9:04 left to play in the second quarter.

The Packers scoring drive included nine plays for 80 yards in 3:58.

A sack and forced fumble for the Redskins came courtesy Packers OL Mike Neal. The Packers were able to recover the fumble.

A pass from Aaron Rodgers to James Jones was batted away -- and Mason Crosby came onto the field to try for a field goal.

Crosby was good on a 43-yard field goal to bring the score to Redskins 11, Packers 10 with 2:52 left in the second quarter.

The Packers announced that this field goal was Crosby's 17th straight playoff FG -- the second-longest streak in NFL playoff history.

Packers CB Quinten Rollins got a big hit on third down for the Packers defense -- for an incomplete pass for the Redskins.

It was a three-and-out for the Packers defense.

It was third and second for the Packers on the Washington 30 yard line with 45 seconds left to play in the half.

Packers WR Davante Adams was able to haul the ball in for 20 yards, and it was then first and goal for the Packers on the Washington 10 yard line.

A Packers TOUCHDOWN came after a 10-yard throw from Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams.

With the extra point, the score was then Packers 17, Redskins 11 with :28 left in the half.

As play got underway in the second half at FedEx Field, the Packers announced CB Quinten Rollins was out of the game with a quad injury. His return is questionable.

A Redskins touchdown came early in the second half -- with a three-yard QB draw by Cousins.

With the extra point, this was again a one-point game, with the Redskins leading the Packers 18-17.

The Redskins' scoring drive included nine plays for 73 yards in 5:19.

Packers WR Davante Adams was down on the field and being attended to. He was able to limp off the field under his own power, and it was announced that he has a knee injury. Packers officials said his return was questionable.

The Packers had fourth and one at the Washington 45 yard line, and opted to go for it.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy was able to get a first down at the Washington 34 yard line with an 11-yard run.

A subsequent Eddie Lacy run made it first-and-goal for the Packers.

Green Bay took the lead back from the Redskins. With the extra point, the score was then 24-18 with 4:12 left in the third quarter.

The Packers scoring drive included 11 plays for 80 yards in 5:29.

The Packers defense was then able to get a three-and-out vs. the Redskins offense after that scoring drive.

The Green Bay Packers were in the lead vs. the Redskins as the fourth quarter began.

A Packers TOUCHDOWN came early in the fourth quarter -- as Eddie Lacy was able to get the ball into the end zone from two yards out after a run by James Starks. The Packers would then go for two.

Aaron Rodgers found Jared Abbrederis in the end zone for the two-point conversion.

The Packers pushed their lead to 32-18.

The Packers scoring drive included 10 plays for 76 yards in 5:39.

A sack of Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins came courtesy of Clay Matthews and Nick Perry -- and it was then fourth and 19 for the Redskins, who would line up to punt the ball.

During the Packers' next possession, Aaron Rodgers found Jared Abbrederis on third down -- but it was short.

Packers punter Tim Masthay then took to the field to punt for the Packers.

Packers cornerback LaDarius Gunter was able to break up a pass on third down for the Redskins, and Washington opted to go for it at fourth and 10.

Packers LB Nick Perry was able to sack Redskins QB Kirk Cousins -- and the Packers would take over at the Washington 17 yard line.

A Mason Crosby 29-yard field goal made the score 35-18 with 4:39 left to play in this game.

A play was reviewed with less than two minutes to play in this game. It was determined that Packers RB Eddie Lacy fumbled, and the Redskins recovered that fumble. It was Redskins ball with 1:45 to play.
