Milwaukee DPW: 108 salt trucks on the road by Monday night, working to clear light snow

MILWAUKEE -- The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works officials said Monday night, January 11th 108 salt trucks were out working to clear the streets after light snow fell on Monday afternoon and Monday night.

As of about 10:00 p.m. Monday, DPW officials said trucks had gotten one pass through on main streets.

Due to blowing snow, officials said the salt trucks were focusing on main streets.

DPW officials didn't have a timetable as to when trucks would move to the side streets.

It was the hope that by Tuesday morning, crews would be finished with main streets and that significant progress will have been made on the side streets.

There were no plows on the road as of 10:00 p.m., but the salt trucks are equipped with underbelly blades that can be used when needed.
