Man's truck stolen, recovered, and then stolen again: "I can't believe this is happening again"

MILWAUKEE -- It is bad enough having your vehicle stolen -- but imagine you get it back, and it's then stolen once again! It happened to a man in Milwaukee.

"Oh my God. My truck's gone," Tim Smith said.

Smith's blue Ford pickup truck disappeared just before the Green Bay Packers matchup vs. the Washington Redskins on Sunday, January 10th.

On Tuesday morning, January 12th, Milwaukee police called Smith. His truck was discovered in the 4400 block of N. 26th Street (near 26th and Atkinson).

Smith got it home and parked it on the street on the city's northwest side. He was taking part in a Skype chat with a business associate -- telling him what happened with his truck, and out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something blue -- being driven away.

"I was like 'oh my God I can't believe this is happening again,'" Smith said.

His truck was stolen -- AGAIN.

Smith didn't know how the thieves got into the truck not once, but twice. However, Smith says the spare key was missing from his home.

On Tuesday afternoon, police found his truck again -- this time near 2nd and Center.

Smith took the truck to the dealership to change the locks, and he purchased a security club.

Smith says he wishes the thieves who keep targeting him and others would focus on their future.

That's something Smith does as a volunteers at central city schools -- teaching kids martial arts. Smith says he'll continue trying to give back to those in Milwaukee, and he hopes others stop taking what's not theirs.

"I'm certainly not going to let people like this define me. You can't do that," Smith said.

Smith says he's thankful for police, who fingerprinted his vehicle -- and for those in the community who reported that it appeared abandoned.
