Drivers take note: Some big changes are coming to the Zoo Interchange

MILWAUKEE -- Ryan Luck with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation joins FOX6 WakeUp to talk about the upcoming closures that could impact your commute.

I-794 Gateway Project: Van Buren Street Closures planned for this weekend and next weekend.

Noon Friday, January 15 to Sunday evening, January 17. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. tonight northbound traffic on Van Buren Street will be detoured west on St. Paul Avenue to Milwaukee Street, north on Milwaukee Street to Michigan Street, and east on Michigan Street to Van Buren Street.

Zoo Interchange Project:

Tuesday 1/19: Full Overnight Freeway Closure I-94 West at 68th Street. The I-41/894 North to I-94 West system ramp and the I-41 South to I-94 West system ramp will also be closed.

Motorist should be aware that other overnight Zoo Interchange system ramp closures will occur during the week.

Despite cold temperatures, demolition of the I-41/894 South bridge over Schlinger Avenue began yesterday and should wrap up in the next few days. The I-41/894 South bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad is scheduled to be demolished next week.

A lane of Northbound 84th Street closed overnight and will remain closed until 9pm on Monday 1/18
From 5 a.m. on Tuesday 1/19 until February 2nd a lane of Southbound 84th Street will be closed.
