Fond du Lac police need public's help to identify subject wanted for questioning

FOND DU LAC -- The Fond du Lac Police Department is investigating a report of a suspicious incident that happened in the area of 15th and Main Sts. on Wednesday, January 13th.

Officials say a female student from Theisen Middle School reported to her mother that while she was walking home from school, she was approached by an adult male. The man began walking with the student and talking with her. Officials say the male subject made some comments that the girl was cute and asked her name. The male then put his arm on her shoulder directing her to walk on 15th St. The girl told the male she could not go that way and walked away to go towards her home.

Police say the subject is described as a male, black, approximately 40 years old, 5'7" tall with short hair. He did have a plastic grocery bag with him that had chips inside. A male matching the same description was also seen on surveillance video leaving the Kwik Trip Store on Main St. just before 4 p.m. that same.

Police are now asking for the public's help in identifying this subject for questioning regarding this incident.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has information regarding the person of interest is asked to call School Resource Officer Steve Olson at 920-906-6734 or the Crime Alert at 920-322-3740.

The Fond du Lac School District was made aware of the situation -- and police will be stepping up patrols around Fond du Lac schools.
