MOUNT PLEASANT — Mount Pleasant police say an 87-year-old woman was backing out of a garage when she accelerated too quickly and drove her vehicle into another garage across the roadway.

The incident took place on N. Newman road in the Village of Mount Pleasant, Saturday morning, January 16th.

According to police, when the woman was backing out of her garage, she accelerated too quickly and crossed the roadway, smashing into another garage impacting a vehicle parked inside before coming to a stop.

Authorities say rescue personnel were able to remove the woman from the vehicle and was treated at the scene — she declined transport to the hospital.

Heavy damage was done to the woman’s vehicle, as well as the attached garage. Minor damage was caused to the vehicle parked inside the garage she struck.

No citations were issued.
