Irgens drops lawsuit against Westin hotel by 833 East

MILWAUKEE -- Irgens has dropped its lawsuit that attempted to block development of a Westin hotel next to Irgens' 833 East office building on the downtown Milwaukee lakefront.

It marks a quick turnover for the case, which was filed Jan. 20. The Westin hotel will be built immediately west of the 833 East office building. With the lawsuit’s dismissal, the 220-room Westin is set to open in 2017.

Through the lawsuit, Irgens claimed the placement of the Westin would block views from the western windows of 833 East, and make it more difficult to find tenants for the building. The developer sued the hotel developers and U.S. Bank, which is selling the land for both developments.
