Update: One man in critical condition following apartment fire near N. Marshall & Lyon

MILWAUKEE -- A man is in critical condition after being pulled from an apartment fire near N. Marshall and E. Lyon Streets Friday, January 29th.

The call to officials came in shortly after 8:15 p.m., for a fire that was taking place on the first floor of the three story apartment complex.

According to police, one man was pulled from inside the apartment within minutes of the fire department arriving -- he was unconscious. The man was transported to Columbia St. Mary's in critical condition.



Officials say there were working smoke detectors in the hallway of the apartment but it is unclear if they were working inside the apartment the fire took place in.

Red Cross volunteers say they are helping 30 people, 5 dogs and a cat as a result of this fire.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this time.
