Gov. Scott Walker creates commission to study families' future

MADISON — Gov. Scott Walker has signed an executive order creating a commission to study how to strengthen families.

Walker signed the order Jan. 25. He directed the commission to identify issues and barriers to families' overall well-being and develop policies to help poor people.

According to the order, Department of Children and Families Secretary Eloise Anderson will serve as chairwoman and will appoint the commission's other members. The panel must submit a report to the governor by Dec. 1. The commission will disband after it delivers the report.
