Police: Convicted felon accused of trying to rob woman on Milwaukee's north side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say a convicted felon tried to steal money from a 27-year-old woman on the city's north side late on Monday, February 8th.

Officers from District Five were on patrol near 5th and Auer around 10:45 p.m. when they were flagged down by the victim. The woman told the officers a few minutes earlier a man approached her and tried to grab money out of her jacket pocket. He then fled on foot.

The officers saw a man matching the suspect’s description nearby and took him into custody.

The suspect is a 27-year-old Milwaukee man and a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2006.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
