Green Bay beats Milwaukee Panthers 70-61 in Horizon tournament

DETROIT  — Carrington Love scored 16 points including four in a 12-0 run that lifted fourth-seeded Green Bay to a 70-61 victory over No. 5 seed Milwaukee in the second round of the Horizon League tournament on Sunday, March 6th.


The Phoenix (21-12) will take on top-seeded Valparaiso on Monday in the semifinals.

Trailing by six after Milwaukee's Jordan Johnson scored five consecutive points, the Phoenix used 3-pointers to start and end the run that put Green Bay ahead 58-52 with four minutes to go.

Matt Tiby hit a 3-pointer to get the Panthers (20-13) within three with 2:10 left but Green Bay the scored the next six points on free throws to lead by nine with 49 seconds remaining.

Green Bay led 31-25 at halftime before giving up the lead with 11 minutes left.

Jordan Fouse scored 15 points with eight rebounds for the Phoenix. Johnson scored 18 points for Milwaukee.

The teams split during the regular season by a total of three points, which each team winning at home.
