“It’s raining cats and dogs!” MADACC announces special adoption event

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission (MADACC), Wisconsin’s largest open-admission animal shelter, is excited to announce their It’s Raining Cats and Dogs Adoption Event.

MADACC is experiencing a very high number of cats and dogs this spring, which has us saying, “It’s raining cats and dogs!” Due to the storm, adoption fees have been reduced to $25 for adult pit bull terriers and adult cats (6 months and older)! The promotion starts March 17th to April 3rd!

MADACC, which faces constant capacity challenges during the warmer months, is asking the community to consider adopting one of their many wonderful adult cats and pit bull mixes that were not reclaimed by their families and are now ready to join new families.

“Intake was low this winter, which was very nice, but with the warmer weather, the population of MADACC has increased dramatically” said Kathy Shillinglaw, Outreach Coordinator for MADACC. “It is also very important to remind people that the reason for the increase of animals is the result of unaltered dogs and cats that breed all year round.” If you are interested in low cost spay and neuter options for your cat or dog, please contact MADACC.

Reduced adoption fees include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, and up-to-date vaccines. A $12 license fee will apply for all Milwaukee County residents. Adopters can fill out an application online at www.madacc.org/adopt or come into MADACC to fill one out in person. You do not need to have an appointment to stop in and you can come in anytime MADACC is open to the public to see the adoptable cats and available in our lobby. To see adoptable dogs, you must have an approved application on file.
