Ohio family wins fight to keep pit bull as companion dog



LAKEWOOD, OHIO -- An Ohio family received some happy news when learning they will be able to keep their pit bull, who serves as a companion to their 4-year-old daughter.

According to WJW, Alleah Williams has cystic fibrosis, which requires her to undergo treatments using a compression vest and breathing machine.

Scrappy, the family pit bull, sits by Alleah's side during all her treatments. But Scrappy is not a trained service animal was subject to a 2008 law in Lakewood, Ohio stating that, "all pit bull dogs and canary dogs are deemed to be dangerous animals," which are banned.

Thankfully, the Williams family asked the city of Lakewood to make an exception in their case and on Tuesday, March 15th the city council decided Alleah and Scrappy could remain together.
