70-year-old Lake Geneva man critically hurt, flown to the hospital after crash in Walworth Co.

TOWN OF LYONS -- One person was critically hurt in a crash involving an SUV and a U-Haul truck that happened on Saturday afternoon, March 19th in the Town of Lyons in Walworth County.

It happened shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Upon the arrival of deputies at the scene, it was determined that the SUV, headed westbound on State Highway 36, had crossed the double, yellow center line -- striking the U-Haul truck.

The 70-year-old driver of the SUV, Philip Carney Jr. of Lake Geneva, was critically hurt, and taken to a trauma center by Flight for Life.

Carney Jr.'s wife, 69-year-old Carol Carney sustained minor injuries. She was the front seat passenger in the SUV. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the U-Haul, 52-year-old Donald Wilkens of Burlington, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

State Highway 36 was closed to traffic until about 5:30 p.m. as a result of this crash.
