Falling ice from Northwestern Mutual crane forces streets, sidewalks to close in downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE -- Thursday's weather created a lot of icy build up. Now on Friday, the warmer temperatures are causing the ice to come crashing down.

In downtown Milwaukee, the crane being used to build the new Northwestern Mutual Building ended up being covered with ice.

As soon as the sun came out, the ice started falling.

According to a spokesperson from Northwestern Mutual, as soon as the 1st shift workers arrived this morning, the ice was seen as a problem and the workers were sent home.

As a precaution, the street along Wisconsin from Cass to Prospect was closed.

Work at Northwestern Mutual should resume back to normal on Monday.
