JACKSONVILLE, Florida — Chilling new video has been released capturing eight-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle’s last moments walking through a Walmart store on the north side of Jacksonville, Florida with an older man believed to be the suspect who raped and killed her.

Donald Smith, 56, is accused in the sexual battery and murder of the child abducted from a Walmart in June 2013.

The Florida State Attorney’s Office released the surveillance video and 911 calls on Wednesday, March 30th, WJXT reported.

The chilling video shows the little girl, wearing orange, shopping with her mother and siblings when they were approached by a man resembling Smith who offered to help them shop.

Cherish’s mom, Rayne Perrywinkle, said that the man had offered to buy the family burgers at the McDonald’s restaurant located at the front of the store. Cherish went with him to purchase the food, and the child was never seen again.

The surveillance shows them standing outside the McDonalds, but then they leave the store — getting into a white van which then drives out of the parking lot.

At 11:18 p.m., Cherish’s mother called 911, frantically searching for her child who she said was last in the company of Smith.

Smith was arrested less than 10 hours later, when a police officer spotted Smith’s white van driving on Interstate 95.

Smith, who is a registered sex offender, had just been released from jail a month prior after serving time on felony charges of child abuse.

He has now been charged with first degree murder, kidnapping a child and sexual battery on a child. He could face the death penalty.

Cherish’s body was found in a marshy area near the Trout River less than a day after her disappearance. Prosecutors say she was raped and killed.

A trial for Smith is set to begin on April 4th.

I agree i’d like to know why she accepted for him to help her shop (creep sign). Also why would she allow her child yo walk off with him, what happen to stranger danger? I am sorry but she handed her child to him, may Cherish rest in peace.

just watching this will make you sick to your stomach (knowing the outcome). How can a person use another human being as an object for a few minutes of gratification and then simply exhaust that life….. like your crumpling up your Mcdonalds wrappers after eating and tossing them in the trash.

Words simply cannot express the sheer amount of WTF that is going through my mind wondering how a mother could let her daughter walk off with an unknown person like that. If the child wandered off and the predator coerced her, ok that’s the M.O. If it was a straight up abduction by force, ok that’s not unusual. But to get permission to actually take the child from her mother??? I don’t care if its a priest, a cop, a doctor, or Jesus himself. Nobody leaves with my child. This mother is probably going through hell, and I have to say it’s hard to feel sympathetic because of the massive failure of her primary duty to protect her children. RIP little girl.

Give him the bull: The bull was in the form and size of an actual bull and had an acoustic apparatus that converted screams into the sound of a bull. The condemned were locked in the device, and a fire was set under it, heating the metal until the person inside roasted to death.

I cannot imagine why a mother can let her little girl walk off with a complete stranger. Terrible lapse in judgement or she was exhausted or distracted…jeez. I’m sure she can’t forgive herself, but honestly?? Why??
