Mobile home in Germantown a total loss after fire; no one hurt

GERMANTOWN -- A mobile home in Germantown is a total loss after a fire Sunday, April 10th at the "Maple Terrace Mobile Home Park" located on Hilltop Drive.

The fire happened around 1:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the mobile home 90% involved in fire, with the trailer to the east also starting to catch fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the original trailer.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The family of five living in the mobile home was able to get out of the home -- but a cat was missing after this fire. The family was being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Damage to the original trailer is estimated at $15,000 for the trailer and contents.

Damage to the "exposure trailer" is estimated at $3,000.

There are no fire hydrants in the area, so firefighters had to rely on water tankers.

"This area where there's no hydrants, we have to rely on water tankers, as you see, parked out on the highway. I only have about two in my department, so we have seven from different agencies to help us out," Germantown Fire Chief Gary Weiss said.
