One injured following shots fired incident near N. 29th & Auer; suspect in custody

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are investigating after several shots were fired near N. 29th and Auer Thursday evening, April 21st.

Police say shortly after 8:15 p.m., two people were taken into custody and officials recovered a firearm. As police did so, they heard multiple additional shots being fired not far from them.

Officials went to investigate, and a suspect fired a gun in their direction. Police say they returned fire but no suspects were determined to be struck by gunfire.

A 24-year old Milwaukee man has been taken into custody in connection with the shots fired incident. A semi-automatic pistol was recovered at the scene.

An officer sustained minor injuries from a fall, as officers responded to the gun shots being fired.  The officer was treated and released from a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and the case will be presented to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office in the coming days for suspect’s role in this incident.
