Racine police make arrest after man shot near 6th and Jones Street

RACINE -- Racine police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting that happened on Sunday, April 24th near 6th and Jones Street.

Police have taken into custody a 33-year-old man (who turns 34 on Tuesday, April 26th).

The victim has been identified as Darnell Barker.

The shooting happened around 11:00 a.m.

Upon officers' arrival at the scene, they located 47-year-old Barker suffering from a single gunshot wound.

A preliminary investigation has indicated that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal argument when the suspect produced a gun and shot the victim one time.

The suspect has not yet been criminally charged.
