One person taken to the hospital from scene of condo fire in Franklin

FRANKLIN -- Franklin police say one person had to be taken to the hospital from the scene of a fire that occurred in a condo building on West Virginia Circle (near W. Jefferson Terrace and N. Cape Road) on Wednesday morning, April 27th.

It happened around 9:30 a.m.

Police said upon the arrival of first responders, smoke and flames were observed coming from one unit in the eight-unit condo building.

The fire was contained to that one unit and was quickly extinguished.

Officials with the Franklin Fire Department assisted a 58-year-old woman from the unit where the fire occurred. She was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

All of the other residents of the condo building were evacuated -- but they were later able to return to their homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
