Vehicle flips onto its roof near Sherman & Florist; family was headed to cemetery on Mother's Day

MILWAUKEE -- Northbound Sherman Boulevard was shut down at Florist Avenue on Sunday, May 8th due to a crash that involved a vehicle that flipped onto its roof.

It happened around 4:30 p.m.

Yvonne May

Yvonne May was driving the vehicle that flipped over when it was clipped by another vehicle.

"We was on our way to the gravesite to put flowers on our mother`s grave. I panicked and I was scared," May said. "They sped up to try to make the light and that's when they hit us from the back."

"It was two of them in the car when we was trying to hammer the car out. He just, you know, put his feet out and kicked the window out and he came out and then we went on the other side to help them out too. We were just trying to make sure everybody got out safe and sound -- because if something happened to me, I hope they'd do the same for me," Batton said.

May said the driver of the other vehicle didn't stop at the scene to see if everyone was OK.
