Fire at Rheocast Company, Germantown

GERMANTOWN — Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at Rheocast Company in Germantown on Monday morning, May 9th.

The fire broke out around 8:30 a.m.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found black smoke coming from the roof of the building. A manager reported that the roof was on fire in the foundry area.

The fire went to three alarms because more manpower was needed because officials said the fire was between the ceiling and the roof — spreading horizontally.

Fire was found around a large roof fan spreading in all directions under the roof covering. The roofing material was rubber over fiberboard over foam insulation on top of corrugated steel, fire officials said.

Primary and secondary searches of the approximately 38,000 square foot building were completed.

Officials said due to multiple vats of molten steel and aluminum in the building, roof operations were dangerous and firefighters had to be careful while fighting this fire.

Fire officials said due to the roof covering and fire spread — this was a manpower intensive incident. More than 60 firefighters were on scene.

The fire was brought under control within two hours.

No one was hurt.

The loss as a result of this fire has been estimated at $125,000.

What jkind of writing is this? “The fire went to three alarms because more manpower was needed because officials said the fire was between the ceiling and the roof — spreading horizontally.” Properly written, it should read “The fire went to three alarms because more manpower was needed. Officials said the fire was spreading horizontally between the ceiling and the roof. Please take an english class.
