UPDATE: Police need help locating vehicle spotted near scene where nine-year-old girl shot

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police are asking for the public’s help locating two vehicles in connection with the May 5th shooting of a nine-year-old girl near 15th and Meinecke.

The vehicles were captured by surveillance cameras near the scene of the shooting.

The first vehicle (below) is a four-door, white Oldsmobile Alero. Police say the people inside were involved in the shootout that left Za'Layia Jenkins critically hurt.

Inside of the car were three black males who, police say, were armed with rifles and a handgun.  The driver was a black male, approximately 25 years old, with low-cut hair and a medium build. He was wearing a black T-shirt.

The second vehicle (below) is a green Jeep Grand Cherokee whose driver may have information regarding the shooting.  The driver was a white male in his 50s, wearing a puffy vest and jeans.

Nine-year-old Za'Layia Jenkins was hit by a stray bullet while inside a home at 15th and Meinecke Thursday night. Jenkins was taken to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Police recovered more than 40 casings at the scene near 15th and Meinecke.

"It`s senseless. Like, you`re all shooting for what?" Chris Fisher said.

Fisher said, as the father of an eight-year-old girl, this case hits close to home.

"It could happen to anybody, you know?" Fisher said.

No arrests have been made in connection with this shooting.

First, kudos to MPD for getting these images out there. However, what are the chances that these vehicles were driven by the actual owners of said vehicles. Maybe there could be some forensic evidence left in the cars, provided they are not in hundreds of pieces in a salvage yard somewhere.

At least we know MPD is making an effort here though.

Also, I was not implying that MPD does not otherwise try, it’s just nice to see tangible proof that they are working all angles of this considering the people they are trying to protect and serve, are unwilling to take a (or the) stand and help.

  • Call the police and turn your cousin in

Alright, fellow white people. A bunch of you always want to talk about how the crime issue is a black issue, and that black people don’t turn each other in. Well one of you knows this white man. 50s, Jeep Grand Cherokee, puffy vest. He better be turned in by the end of the day.

There are way too many people living in this world with no conscious or regard for human life. How is it that people know who was involved in this heinous act yet they have not come forward to tell the police who these monsters are? An innocent 9 year old girl is fighting for her life because of idiots who chose to have a shoot-out. People, please do the right thing! It doesn’t matter if the individuals involved were your family members, friends or neighbors; they deserve to pay for this. A child is suffering! A mother is suffering! Surely you would want someone to help you and your family if the tables were turned. We as a community cannot continue to tolerate this behavior. It’s taking our GOD given babies from us! Cowards, speak up!!
