Hartford semi driver killed in crash on I-294 in Chicago suburb of Hinsdale

HINSDALE, Illinois -- A 61-year-old UPS truck driver from Hartford was killed in a crash on I-294 in Hinsdale, Illinois early Tuesday, May 10th. The victim is identified as Glen Dantuma.

The Illinois State Police say a semi hauling a double bottom trailer was traveling on southbound I-294 in Hinsdale when for unknown reasons, Dantuma lost control, ran off the roadway to the left, and struck the concrete median wall on the left side. The impact caused one of the two trailers to overturn and breach onto the northbound side of I-294.

Dantuma was taken to LaGrange Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, where he was pronounced deceased.

UPS issued the following statement:

"UPS is saddened by the loss of our freight driver who was involved in an incident last night. Our condolences go to his family and loved ones. We are cooperating with local authorities as they investigate the incident."


The crash remains under investigation.
