"A really tough year:" But Crayola helped turn frowns upside down for Germantown boy, his sister

GERMANTOWN -- At six years old, one Germantown boy has had more surgeries, treatments and medicines than many of us can imagine. It's all due to his liver and kidney disease. But on Wednesday, May 11th, that boy and his twin sister shared in a delightful distraction.

Drew and Abby Duszynski and their kindergarten classmates were all shades of surprised on Wednesday as they entered the school library. They found an array of activities -- compliments of the Crayola Experience in Minneapolis.

Drew is a kidney and liver disease survivor. He had both of his kidneys removed and received a transplant in June 2015. His parents say Drew's twin sister shares his struggle.

"They've had a really tough year. Because of Drew's medical problems, a lot of attention has gone towards Drew, more so than Abby, and she's hung in there. They've supported each other," said Don Duszynski, Drew and Abby's father.

On this day, Abby also shared a smile as they took part in the variety of activities available.

"I wish I was a crayon!" exclaimed Abby.

In addition to a table full of Crayola products, Drew and Abby and their parents will also receive an all-expense paid trip to the Crayola Experience in Minneapolis when it opens on May 25th.
