Police seek suspect after shooting inside Foodtown Supermarket: "I hope they catch the guy"

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police need your help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting inside the Foodtown Supermarket near Fond du Lac and Hampton Avenues that happened on Thursday, May 12th.

Police say the suspect, a man in his 20s, entered the store around 7:00 p.m.

Then, there was a confrontation between the suspect and a store employee. Police say the store employee pulled out pepper spray and sprayed the suspect, and that's when the suspect fired shots -- striking a 47-year-old woman. The suspect then fled from the scene on foot.

"It`s happening everywhere and you don`t know when it`s going to happen. It just happens. I was planning to go up there that day for some chicken wings and some pork chops. And I didn`t go. Something told me-- don`t go, and I didn`t go to Foodtown that day.  It`s dangerous out here. Your best bet is to go where you go, be safe, watch your back and get back home," Shacollier Wilson, a Foodtown customer said.

"It`s awful. You can`t even go to a grocery store and get groceries. Somebody gets shot. That innocent lady got shot and she don`t have nothing to do with it. I hope they catch the guy who did it because that`s kind of crazy man. What`s going on in this city?" Sam Roberts, a Foodtown customer said.

The suspect was captured by the store's surveillance cameras, and police have released surveillance video in an effort to identify him:

The suspect was last seen wearing a light gray T-shirt and reddish-colored pants.
