27-year-old woman suffers severe injuries after her vehicle hit dump truck head-on in Jefferson

JEFFERSON COUNTY -- Officials with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office say a 27-year-old woman had to be taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after a crash involving a dump truck that happened on Tuesday afternoon, May 24th.

It happened just before 2:00 p.m. on County Highway Y, approximately two-tenths of a mile south of Will Road in Jefferson.

An initial investigation has revealed a vehicle was headed northbound on County Highway Y when it drifted into the southbound lane, hitting the dump truck head-on.

The 48-year-old man who was driving the dump truck was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old woman driving the vehicle was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life for treatment of severe injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
