"Really scary:" Surveillance video shows suspects dumping baby from vehicle after carjacking

MILWAUKEE -- A rather brazen carjacking that happened on Monday, May 23rd has garnered a big reaction from residents in a neighborhood on Milwaukee's south side.

The suspects stole a woman's vehicle -- with her one-month-old baby sleeping inside.

Police say they continue to see suspects in this case. Police said Tuesday, May 24th it is believed the vehicle that struck the woman's vehicle in this "bump and run" carjacking has been recovered.

While waiting for his grandsons to come out of Milwaukee's Fairvew School on Tuesday afternoon, May 24th, Gene Allard learned more about a crime that happened on Monday morning, May 23rd near 66th and Montana -- about a block-and-a-half away from the school.

"That's gotta be really scary," Allard said.

Police say around 6:30 a.m., a mother's vehicle was struck by another vehicle, with two suspects inside. When she got out of her vehicle to check the damage, one of the suspects pushed her out of the way, and the suspects took off in her vehicle -- with her one-month-old child still inside.

"To steal a car and not care about a baby until they see it..." Allard said.

"We`ve been in the house six months," Rzad said.

Rzad said hearing of the crime was unsettling.

"It might`ve changed the perspective a little bit for me. I think, drastically, our lives won`t change, but maybe make us more aware to look out for things possibly," Rzad said.

FOX6 News spoke briefly with the baby's mother on Tuesday. She said she and her family are counting their blessings, and are thankful the baby is safe.
