Threat against Racine Case High School phoned in to Mount Pleasant P.D.

RACINE -- The principal at Racine Case High School has notified parents that a phone threat was called in to the Mount Pleasant Police Department on Tuesday morning, May 24th. The threat is reportedly similar to those that have been called into schools across the state and country this week. Those were scams.

The principal also said the following in his statement to parents:

"Our local police are investigating this right now and we are working with them as well as our school based officers to take appropriate action to ensure the safety of our school. They have recommended that we keep students inside for lunch (Tuesday) as a precautionary measure and anyone entering or leaving the building will be required to use only the main entrance door and will be subject to search.

It is extremely important to myself and to this staff that we take every step in both practicing and ensuring the utmost safety of our entire school community.  I am proud of our staff and students for the collaborative efforts they are showing in this precautionary time."

Mount Pleasant police say the threat was phoned in around 9:15 a.m.

The Mount Pleasant police school resource officer assigned to Case High School and the Case High School administration was immediately notified.

As a safety precaution, Case High School Staff initiated a lock-down procedure and extra Mount Pleasant patrol officers responded to assist to help secure the school.

Nothing credible has been found to substantiate the threat. Other schools around the nation have received threats over the past couple days.

Police are investigating whether this threat is related.

Mount Pleasant police are working closely with Racine Unified officials to investigate the threat and ensure the safety of the students and staff.
