"We have a LOT of dogs:" Dog adoption fees cut in half at Wisconsin Humane Society

MILWAUKEE -- Now through Sunday, May 29th at the Wisconsin Humane Society’s three shelters, all dog adoption fees for adults 6 months+ are reduced by 50%!

According to a press release, WHS has an unusually high population of dogs (87 available), and they hope this inspires people to consider opening their hearts and homes to a new friend this Memorial Day weekend.

"Our current dog population isn't a result of a hoarding or seizure situation, and it's not unusual to see slows adoptions during the first nice stretch of weather in Wisconsin. But we have a LOT of dogs, and we need the community's help in getting these love bugs home."

At WHS, the average stay on the adoption floor for a dog is about 1.5 days, but there are more than a dozen dogs who have been at the shelter for several weeks, even a couple months in a few cases.

WHS opens at 12 p.m. in Milwaukee and 2 p.m. in Racine and Saukville. You can view all available dogs by clicking this link: http://wihumane.org/adopt?AnimalType=1
