Zach Davies pitches Brewers to 3 to 1 win over the Cardinals

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers were able to salvage the finale of a 3-game series with the St. Louis Cardinals, thanks to a career-best outing from Zach Davies (3-3). The Brewers righthander went 8 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 0 runs. Jeremy Jeffress pitched the 9th inning, giving up a solo home run before retiring the next 3 Cardinals, in the 3 to 1 victory. The Brewers offense jumped on Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia (4-5) in the 1st inning with 2 runs. Ryan Braun and Chris Carter each had RBI singles. Brewers back-up catcher Martin Maldonado hit a solo home run in the 6th to cap the scoring for the Crew.

The Brewers now hit the road for a 4-game series in Philadelphia. They take on the Phillies Thursday night, first pitch is at 6:05 PM.
