Bublr Bikes, DreamBikes team up to help teenagers become certified bike mechanics

MILWAUKEE -- A graduation ceremony was held Sunday, June 5th in connection with a one-of-a-kind program in Milwaukee.

Three teenagers received what is believed to be the nation's first bike mechanic certification specifically for bike-sharing systems.

Bublr Bikes partnered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Milwaukee and DreamBikes to create this program.

The teenagers spent time working at both DreamBikes and Bublr before taking their certification test.

"The program was through two months and the two months went by fast.We had a good time. We worked on bikes and we learned a lot, talked to a lot of people -- so afterward they gave us a call back and said they'd like to have us work there," Kadeam Wilson said.

All three are now employees for Bublr Bikes. They'll be putting their training to good use -- maintaining the bikes and their stations.
