Police: Six teenagers, two just 12 years old, arrested after two victims carjacked on south side

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say teamwork between officers and members of the Milwaukee Police Department's "Robbery Task Force" led to the quick arrest of six teenagers believed responsible for two carjackings that happened on Milwaukee's south side.

Police say the carjackings happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4th near 30th and Burnham.

Several suspects inside a Dodge Caravan pulled up to two victims -- one driving a Ford Escape and one driving a GMC Terrain, and demanded their cars at gunpoint.

The suspects then fled the scene in the vehicles they just obtained.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, the Ford Escape was spotted by officers near 26th and Center Street -- and a pursuit ensued.

Police say the driver of the Escape eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed. A 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody.

Around the same time, police say the Terrain was spotted in the same area -- and a 12-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were arrested.

MPD will present this case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days for charges.
