According to a release from the City Clerk's Office, each of these special meetings is intended to examine the role of a different facet of the public safety process, committee chair Alderman Bob Donovan said, offering civic leaders the opportunity to join the fray and take collaborative action.

The effort is part of a larger Common Council initiative to engage community members, civic leaders and police in combating the epidemic of violent crime in the city of Milwaukee.

“We’ve all got our part to play in fixing Milwaukee’s crime problem,” Alderman Donovan said in the statement. “I look forward to discussing with the district attorney the role his office plays in getting and keeping bad guys off our streets.”

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn appeared before the committee on Monday, June 6th.
