WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama on Tuesday unleashed a blistering verbal assault on Donald Trump and his proposal for a ban on Muslims entering the country, saying the suggestion violates the principles of American democracy and dismissing the "yapping" from "politicians who tweet."

Obama also angrily pushed back against criticism for not using the term "radical Islamic terrorism," calling it "loose talk."

"What exactly would using this language accomplish? What exactly would it change?" Obama asked during remarks at the Treasury Department. "Would it make ISIL less committed to try and kill Americans?" he continued, using a different acronym for ISIS.

"Would it bring in more allies? Is there a military strategy that is served by this? The answer is none of the above. Calling a threat by a different name does not make it go away."

"The men and women who put their lives at risk and the Special Forces I ordered to get bin Laden and are now on the ground in Iraq and in Syria -- they know full well who the enemy is," Obama said. "So do the intelligence and law enforcement officers who spent countless hours disrupting plots. And protecting all Americans, including politicians who tweet, and appear on cable news shows. They know what the nature of the enemy is. So there's no magic to the phrase 'radical Islam.' It's a political talking point."

Obama added, "This is a political distraction."

He did not use Trump's name, but his target was clear when he referred to the presumptive Republican nominee and called out Republican leaders for not opposing him.

Obama also called for Congress to pass tougher gun laws and the renewal of the assault weapons ban.

"We have to make it harder for people who want to kill Americans to get their hands on weapons of war that let them kill dozens of innocents," Obama said. "Enough talking about being tough on terrorism. Actually be tough on terrorism."

Obama, who opened his remarks by providing an update on the investigation into the Orlando terrorist attack over the weekend, said the U.S. currently does not have "any information to indicate that a foreign terrorist group directed the attack in Orlando."

"It is increasingly clear, however, that the killer took in extremist information and propaganda over the Internet," Obama said."He appears to have been an angry, disturbed, unstable young man who became radicalized."

So Obama once again held his stupid news conference to try and blame guns again. I wish the media would not even cover this clown anymore because he is basically irrelevant.

So even by his own words the internet is the problem. Shutting down the internet makes as much sense as taking away the guns.

I have seen the videos ISIS put out there. Be-headings, torching people in cages, drowning people in cages and on and on. I have no desire to join ISIS. I want them utterly DESTROYED! So there is no SELF RADICALIZATION. His parents brought him up to hate.

Using the term “radical islam” or “Islamic terrorists” can help to make a person more conscious of the theology to which the subscribe. Raising our generation of kids to be aware of the risks associated with this bastardization of Islam so should they choose to follow islam, they can be conscious of the violent and bigoted rhetoric of those who want to destroy this world. They can then see and say something and perhaps sway people away from following such misguidance.

Obama is such a useless, weak man. He doesn’t want to upset his brethren. What would it hurt him to call it what it is like the majority of America does. Obama could have been such a great President. Instead he has taken this country back seventy years in race relations, constantly lied, has blood on his hands for the deaths of our fellow Americans in Benghazi, tries to tear apart the Constitution, works incredibly hard to delete the second amendment even though his home city of Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country yet has the incredibly high amount of homicide rates by criminals who purchase illegal guns. He wanted so hard to bring in healthcare for all even though we had Medicaid for those who cannot afford healthcare. He received credit for the lie of the year by saying if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor with the affordable care act. The cost of health care has skyrocketed instead of falling which he said it would, and the list goes on. Obama is the poorest excuse of a President I have seen in my fifty one years of life.
