"We're getting hit!" Driver sought after heated hit-and-run crash on Brady St.

MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that happened on Brady St. on Wednesday, June 15th.

Officials say around 3:00 p.m., a black pick-up truck struck several vehicles at the intersection of Arlington and Brady — and then attempted to leave the scene.  Witnesses attempted to stop the driver by standing in the roadway and blocking the pick-up truck’s path. Eventually the truck was able to flee the area.

The driver and passenger of the van are now sharing their perspective of the incident.

An afternoon drive home on Wednesday, went from normal to chaotic.

"Leaving work, going home -- it's people, traffic all the time. It was pretty crazy, it really was," said Mane.

Ricci Mane and his son Jerry, were stopped at Brady and Arlington when a black pickup truck halted traffic.

"He actually rear-ended a white van," said Jerry.

"Backed up from that, started turning down Arlington," said Mane.

The truck slammed into them. The driver backs away and then hit them again.

The driver of the truck then tries to take off, but more than a dozen people run to the street.

"He kept saying, 'I am stopped.' I go, 'You're not stopped,'" said Mane.

"They were all trying to get his doors open," said Jerry.

"He just wouldn't listen," said Mane.

The man got away but this father and son say in the end they are thankful for strangers who didn't hesitate to help.

"They all rallied together and that's what a tight community does. That's Brady Street. Absolutely. That's what Brady Street is all about," said Mane.

They may not have stopped the driver, but someone was able to take a photo of their license plate.

Anyone with more information regarding this incident is asked to contact police.

Ricci and Jerry Mane own a nearby pizza shop and say people have been coming in to check on them.
