"Food is a big deal:" Plenty of options at Veterans Park ahead of US Bank Fireworks Show!

MILWAUKEE -- There was family, fellowship, fun -- and of course, FOOD down at Veterans Park Sunday, July 3rd ahead of and during the spectacular US Bank Fireworks Show.

About a dozen vendors set up along the lakefront each year to feed the thousands who turn out for the big fireworks show.

Some started camping as early as Friday morning, July 1st to ensure they'd get a prime spot for the 60-minute show.

Some brought their own picnics -- since they'd be camping out for nearly two days -- but there were also the vendors offering things like brats, gyros, funnel cake, snow cones and more!

"Brats, hot dogs, pizza, pretzels, smoothies, coffee and shaved ice, Hawaiian shaved ice," Scott Fisher said.

There was plenty to choose from -- and folks didn't even have to leave Veterans Park!

"We`re going to have 100,000 people down here before the fireworks start, and they need to eat. So food is a big deal," Fisher said.

Fisher has been a vendor for this event for 20 years!

"The bubble tea, I just started selling this year. Not a lot of people get to know the Asian drink, the bubble tea," Lee Her, a vendor said.

John Winkler, who traveled to Milwaukee from Minnesota for the US Bank Fireworks Show got dinner from the Greek stand.

"Of course you see the food trucks here and you get enticed. Decided to come down and check it out," Winkler said.
