Inspectors find 4 code violations after "Zippin Pippin" roller-coaster crash

GREEN BAY — State inspectors have found four code violations as they investigate a roller-coaster accident in Green Bay that sent three people to the hospital.

But WLUK-TV reports (http://bit.ly/29lKeNh ) the inspectors' report does not give a cause for the June 20 incident at the Bay Beach Amusement Park, when a loaded car on the Zippin Pippin crashed into an empty car on the loading platform.

WLUK says the report lists four violations, including a lack of operator training records. The city was ordered to provide appropriate training and maintain records properly.

Mayor Jim Schmitt's office says the city needs to make "some minor corrections," but the cause of the accident remains under investigation. The city is hoping for final findings and full certification to return the ride to service by next week.
