American Girl inks book licensing deal with Scholastic

MILWAUKEE -- American Girl has signed a licensing agreement with Scholastic -- the world's largest distributor of children's books.

A list of planned titles and formats are targeted for ages five to 12.

The Middleton-based company sells dolls, books and accessories.

Since 1986, the company has sold more than 153 million American Girl books, and more than 29 million dolls.

It now operates 20 retail stores across the United States.
