Mega Millions winner: Someone in Cambridge City, Indiana holds ticket worth estimated $540M



CAMBRIDGE CITY, Indiana -- Someone in the small town of Cambridge City, Indiana is now a millionaire -- but we don't yet know who holds the winning Mega Millions ticket -- worth an estimated $540 million.

The winning ticket for the drawing Friday, July 8th was sold at a Speedway station along Interstate 70 in Cambridge City, a town of about 2,000 residents 50 miles east of Indianapolis.

Town Council President Mark McCarty says if the winner is a local, it won't take long for word to spread about who it is.

Cambridge City Chamber of Commerce President Beth Leisure says she's "happy for whoever it is," even if the winner isn't from the town known for its antique stores.

Robert Williams, who works at the town's National Road Antique Mall, says customers are excited and "everybody's wondering who it is."



The Speedway in Cambridge City is also a big winner. They will get $100,000 for selling the jackpot ticket.

The Mega Millions winner can take a one time lump sum estimated payment of $380 million, before taxes, or a 30-year annuity.

Mega Millions is played in 36 states along with the District of Columbia and the U-S Virgin Islands.

The Mega Millions jackpot odds are 1 in 259 million.
